Supporting You Through Pet Loss
Losing a beloved pet is one of the most heartbreaking experiences a pet owner can face. The grief that follows is deep, personal, and sometimes overwhelming. If you’ve recently lost a pet or are struggling with anticipatory grief, please know that you are not alone.
Our very own hospital manager, Jessica Timmins, is a Certified Pet-Loss Grief Support Specialist and now offering free grief support services to anyone in need. This is a resource for those who need a safe space to talk, process emotions, and find guidance during this difficult time.
Why Pet-Loss Grief Support Matters
Grieving a pet is often misunderstood by those who have not experienced such a loss, making it even harder to navigate. Whether your pet’s passing was sudden or expected, the emotions can be overwhelming. Pet-loss grief support provides:
? A compassionate and judgment-free space to express your feelings
? Guidance on coping with loss and honoring your pet’s memory
? Support for navigating difficult decisions, including euthanasia and end-of-life care
If you or someone you know is struggling with the loss of a pet, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Grief should never be faced alone.
Learn More About Jessica Timmins
Jessica grew up in rural Greenville, NY, and knew from a young age that she wanted to help animals. In February 1998, she started as a Veterinary Assistant at Middletown Veterinary Hospital. In 2001, she graduated from Delhi College of Technology with an Associate in Applied Sciences and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She took on the position of Hospital Manager in November 2012.
In her time at Middletown Vet, Jessica acquired a passion for end of life care, and a belief that every pet that passed through her hospital’s doors deserved to be treated with as much dignity and respect as any human being in their last moments on this Earth.
May of 2021 brought tragedy to her life with the disappearance of her beloved Chihuahua Mix, Piccolo. In the aftermath of his disappearance, Jessica experienced the rollercoaster of emotions that come along with grief: denial, anger, and sadness, which at times were overwhelming.
As time went on, she started to look into pet-loss grief support programs, not only to help others that felt the way she did, but to also help heal herself. She discovered the American Institute of Healthcare Professionals and intrigued by the program they offered, she applied. She became a Certified Pet-Loss Grief Support Specialist in February 2025.
Jessica truly hopes to be able to be there to support her clients and patients, along with anyone else that wishes to have someone to reach out to when they are struggling through any type of pet loss.
